Achieving seamless cloud migration adoption

Overview

Public Group, the leading omnichannel retailer in Greece and Cyprus, strategically invests to create an ecosystem of innovative scale ups around its flagship Omnichannel Retail business.

Public aims to constantly stay ahead in the market by combining the best in tech and innovation. With that in mind, Public had been using Atlassian Server products (Jira Software, Jira Service Management, Bitbucket, Confluence) for some years, and they had played a critical role within the business. With high growth, however, comes change and that is when Public decided to make the move to the cloud.

The Challenge

Public was on the lookout to update and add more users to its systems. The company had been hosting Atlassian products on premiseand was looking for a way to migrate from on-premise to the cloud, as efficiently as possible, minimizing service disruption, thus saving resources. That is when the company turned to Nimaworks.

The Solution

Nimaworks' expertise came to offer the solution! Our team of cloud experts helped Public move to cloud successfully and with minimal disruption to the various teams involved. We looked into the company’s systems, answered all their questions and went on to design a migration plan for Public.

As every migration comes with its own unexpected challenges, prior to the actual migration, Nimaworks' cloud experts extensively tested Public’s systems. The test migration allowed us to create an accurate playbook to minimize the downtime and to ensure a trouble-free experience for end-users during the actual migration.

With testing out of the way, it was time for the actual migration, moving the on-prem server data and associated attachments and projects to the cloud safely and comprehensively. Once everything was tested to ensure it was operating as desired, Nimaworks scheduled the go-live date to put the team at Public back in the driver’s seat.

Overall, the team completed the entire migration process for Jira Software, Jira Service Management, Confluence and Bitbucket in just over a month.

The Impact

Through the collaboration with Nimaworks, Public’s end users had a seamless experience between Server and Cloud utilization and now the company is enjoying the many benefits of moving to the cloud.

Firstly, the company enjoys peace of mind when it comes to upgrades, not having to deal with maintenance issues. Public now has all the latest updates and features made available to them, with no manual work needed.

In addition, there is the security side to this peace of mind. With security being a very sensitive issue for Public, the team can now feel safe, as Atlassian and Nimaworks work around the clock to keep data in the cloud secure, preventing external attacks using the detections program, secure software development and industry-accepted operational practices.
On top of that, another factor that has positively affected the company, is that work has now become easier and more accessible with external and internal teams being able to collaborate efficiently and with the applications available from Atlassian making work more flexible.

Finally, migration to the cloud gave Public impetus to pursue new projects. The company has now set up its own IT service desk to answer users' requests and provide support for projects.
